I work at TERC (www.terc.edu), a not-for-profit educational research and development organization located in Cambridge, MA, where I am a senior project director and principal investigator. I develop curriculum and professional development programs for K-12 teachers and students in science. I specialize in Earth science education. I have worked at TERC since 1993. I graduated from the University of Chicago with a Ph.D. in sociology in 1980. My B.A. is from Northwestern University in the History and Literature of Religions, 1965. I served in the U.S. Peace Corps in India from 1966-1968.

My most recent large piece of work is the development of the Earth Science by Design program of professional development for teachers of Earth science. The web site for this project is htto://www.esbd.org

I am interested in environmental education and have been a principal investigator with the GLOBE program (www.globe.gov) since 1996.
