I'm the sports editor at the Times Record, a mid-sized newspaper in Fort Smith, Ark. I have no specific area of expertise. Instead, I try to be a sponge - soaking up as much info as possible on a wide variety of topics. Obviously, sports is one of my main areas. Football is my first love, followed closely by futbol (soccer), baseball, thoroughbred racing, cycling, basketball, rugby and just about any competitive sport in the world. But I also spend way too much time reading about Hemingway, the Grateful Dead, fly fishing, military history, marksmanship, solar energy, organic farming, mountaineering, kayaking, home remodeling and repair and current events. I'm a former Heisman Trophy voter, current member of the Football Writers Association of America and Associated Press Sports Editors.
