Motion to replace EC:2011-010
Editors: roles and expectations
Editors shall be the referees responsible for monitoring, reviewing, correcting, and otherwise improving Citizendium content.
In order to fulfill those roles, it is expected that Editors have the following general abilities:
- the ability to recognize good exposition, suitable for the intended audience,
- the ability to evaluate articles with respect to
- their structure and organization,
- their clarity and coherence, and
- their consistent and balanced content,
- the ability to determine if
- an article is well-researched, and
- its sources are relevant and reliable.
- the ability to know and respect the limits of their competence
Remark:
- This motion is not intended to establish criteria for appointment of Editors, or criteria for Editor nomination of articles for approval or for voting for approval.

Editor qualifications
Editors shall be the referees who monitor and review Citizendium content and who are, by virtue of the following general qualifications in combination with their specialized knowledge, entrusted with selecting articles for approval:
- the ability to recognize good exposition, suitable for the intended audience,
- the abilitiy to evaluate articles with respect to
- their structure and organization and
- a consistent and balanced selection of their content,
- the ability to determine if
- an article is well-researched and
- to judge its sources with respect to their relevance and reliability.
Moreover, in order to be able to act responsibly, Editors must know the limits of their competence and be willing to respect them.
