Trained in Classics, with an MA from Auckland University, and a second MA from Cambridge. Science degree (BSc) was an unexpected accident while doing Classics. Theology post-graduate degree (BD) from Otago while training as an Anglican priest in Auckland. Doctorate in Applied Linguistics from Exeter University, while working in the UK.
Teaching posts at secondary schools and universities include philosophy, theology, languages, linguistics, and also maths, physics and English.
Two great passions: Linguistics and Classics. Specific interests are historical linguistics, concentrated on Proto-Indo-European, and in Classics the works of Homer, Horace and Virgil.
Currently retired, but working part-time for the Open University, teaching Classics, Religion and a course on Death and Dying.
