I am an assistant professor of medicine (critical care) and anesthesia at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have the slightly odd distinction of one of the longest commutes to work...I live in the UK and have a position in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine there also, commuting to Halifax between 4 and 8 weeks a year. As well as my clinical interests I have been involved in medical education for a number of years and specifically in the use of the web to foster learning and collaboration amongst trainees. I am a member of several international anaesthesia and critical care societies and serve on the Education and Training Steering Committee of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. I undertake peer review activities for a number of medical journals and serve on the Editorial Board of the Southern Medical Journal.
