I am the founder and editor of storySouth, a leading online literary journal focusing on Southern writings. I am a former senior editor with Meadowbrook Press, a commercial publishing company distributed by Simon & Schuster, and currently work as a director of communications for a health policy think tank in Columbus, Ohio. I have more than ten years experience in marketing and communications, including working in University Relations at the University of Minnesota.

I have published more than 300 short stories, nonfiction articles, and essays. My stories have been published in magazines such as the Mississippi Review, Beloit Fiction Journal, Diagram, Pindeldyboz, and other places and I am the recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship. A six page interview with me about online fiction and literary writing was published in the 2005 Novel and Short Story Writers Market.

I also serve as an administrator at Wikipedia under the username Alabamaboy.
