• Let me be sure I understand. It sounds as if there are three steps:

1. EC names Editors.
2. Community nominates persons from the EC list and picks 1-4 in [some way]
3. MC picks ME from list of 4.

It looks like:

• Community nominates several editors
• MC chooses as many as four of those
• Community votes for one.

• But the editor list clearly comes from the EC.
• I have no objection to the MC picking the slate, and actually prefer their doing so. I would, however, recommend they be required to pick >1.

Then there's something wrong with the process. There will always be enough philosophical differences of opinion that I don't think there ever will be a ME candidate that will be suitable to everyone, although one CZ-saint does come very close. Howard C. Berkowitz 23:20, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Agree, without prejudice to my overall opposition to having a ME at the start -- which we can't with this article. We can have it only after the EC (to create the list of Editors) and MC (to select) are operational. Howard C. Berkowitz 15:32, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
