This template may be placed on articles that incorporate public domain texts from works for which the copyright has expired to acknowledge the source of the public domain text. It should be placed immediately below <references /> or {{reflist}} at the bottom of the article.

To specify an author, use the code {{PD-text|TITLE|AUTHOR}}, which produces:

or if you cannot identify the author, use {{PD-text|TITLE}}, which produces produces the message:
