I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in biochemistry/biophysics from Oregon State University (Corvallis, Oregon, USA 1995) and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Western States Chiropractic College (Portland, Oregon, USA 1998). I practiced as a chiropractor for 3 years and started teaching part-time in the beginning of my third year in practice. The part-time teaching at Western States Chiropractic College and, later, Mt. Hood Community College, led to a career of teaching biology at the college level. I am currently an Associate Professor of Biology at Southwestern Oregon Community College, in Coos Bay, Oregon, USA. I teach Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Nutrition. My hobbies include sea kayaking, woodworking, free and open source software, reading about science, technology, and medicine, and using technology to enhance teaching and learning. I am a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society and the American Society for Microbiology.
