Hello, my name is Dwayne Kilbourne, and I live in Holly, Michigan. I was born in Georgia on August 4, 1981. I lived in Georgia and Florida until I was 5 years old; since then, I have resided in Genesee County, Michigan.
I am a perfectionist and an entrepreneur at heart. I have been gifted to be able to learn quickly. I received my Associates of Business Administration (Marketing) at Baker College of Flint, graduating as the Honor Graduate (Top Student) in the Marketing Program with a 4.0 GPA. Following that, I continued on with my education at Baker College of Flint, electing to take many of my courses through Baker College Online (who uses the Blackboard Learning System). I was approximately two weeks away from receiving my BBA in Marketing (with a minor in e-Business) when I was called to active duty in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom I. As a Marine Reservist, I spent over two months in Iraq and a total of approximately eleven months on active duty. When I returned from my combat experience, I finished my BBA, maintaining a 4.0. Following the completion of my undergraduate degree, I continued on at Walden University in my quest to earn an MBA degree with a dual focus (Marketing and e-Business). In August of 2007, I conferred my MBA, and I began my current education challenge, my Doctorate in Applied Management and Decision Sciences. Also, on February 22, 2008, I was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps (after nearly eight years of honorable service) as a Sergeant.
Currently, I work in management for a supplier of General Motors. Among my managerial duties, I am also considered a subject matter expert and project manager. In addition to this, I have concurrently operated my small business where my company provides business and technology services to include but not be limited to business consulting, web development, e-business consulting, marketing research, and search engine optimization.
In addition to my many academic and professional achievements, I have many hobbies. First, I really enjoy learning. I intend to continue passing on my knowledge after I attain my Ph. D. While working on my undergraduate degree at Baker, I was a tutor for the college, where I was certified as a master tutor through CRLA. Now, I want to take that one step further and teach online. Besides teaching aspirations, I really love computing and technology (in general). I spend much of my day fine-tuning my skills. In fact, I am certified through CompTIA in e-Business (e-Biz+ certified) and Internet principles (i-Net+ certified). I am considered a member through their IT Professional program. I continue to further my qualifications; currently, I am working on gaining more CompTIA-based certifications (Project+, Network+, A+, and Security+) as well as some Microsoft certifications (i.e. MOS). Also, I love to play tennis, go bowling, go speed skating, and playing my guitar and trumpet. Furthermore, I love to travel. There are many places that I love to go. Of those, I have two favorite spots. The first is Las Vegas (Nevada… not New Mexico). Since 1994, I have spent a great deal of time researching the business concepts, environments, and industries that make Las Vegas, Nevada, what it is today. The second place that I like to go is any thrill, theme, or amusement park. I really love roller coasters, and Cedar Point is a great spot for me! Advancing technologies are allowing the thrill ride industry to offer exciting new rides!
