Mr Marsh is a well-known and experienced figure in industry, commerce and management consultancy and has travelled extensively throughout the globe visiting more than 90 countries.
An industrial apprenticeship in the food and catering industry was followed by army service at the end of World War II. He then held senior management appointments with a large food company. From 1964 to 1974 he was the owner and managing director of a food manufacturing and exporting company. He founded his consultancy company in 1975 and undertook management consultancy and market research projects, worldwide. He was a keynote speaker at many marketing seminars, which included cross-cultural presentations. His clients include many European companies and trans-national corporations, chambers of commerce, universities and management colleges, in particular the United Nations Geneva-based agency ITC-UNCTAD/WTO and the Trade Development Institute of the Helsinki School of Economics. During the 1980s and early 1990s he prepared a large number of in-depth market surveys about the European market covering a wide range of products. He has broadcast on a range of subjects. Until he retired in 2005, wrote numerous articles on a wide range of topics including cross-cultural relation features for over 150 British and International trade publications.
He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers and a Freeman of the City of London. He holds the Diploma in Management Studies, and is a former Fellow of the British Institute of Management. He is a past Chairman of the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom and currently one of its Vice-President. He is President of the Royal Aero Club Trust, a registered charity. He was the Founder President of Europe Airsports, the federation of all European Aero Clubs representing the interests of some 900.000 air sports persons. He was the United Kingdom Vice President of FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) the world airsports organisation, of which he is now a Companion of Honour. He is also a former air racing pilot and was British Air Racing Champion in 1972.
Since his retirement his interests have stretched to include golf croquet, lawn bowling, painting, Scottish Dancing and playing Bridge.
