Joe Ann Ricca is the founder and CEO/President of The Richard III Foundation, Inc. an international non-profit organization that focuses on research and scholarship on the Fifteenth Century, and especially the life and reign of King Richard III.

Under her office, Mrs. Ricca is also the Editor-In-Chief of their publication "The Medelai Gazette" and is published three times a year. The publication offers articles from well-known academics, and provides a forum for students in their Ph'd as a vehicle to get their noticed. Book reviews on the latest publications, information on conferences and other medieval organizations are also provided.

Mrs. Ricca established their scholarship and changed the protocol to students in their Ph'D years to fill the void in the lack of funding for students on this level. The committee is comprised of Prof. Ralph A. Griffiths, Prof. Chris Given Wilson, Dr. Sean Cunningham, David Baldwin, author of Elizabeth Woodville, Arlene Okerlund, Russell Butcher employed at Osprey, and David Santuiste. Mr. Santuiste was the initial recipient of the scholarship, and now is the coordinator of the student programs.

The Foundation has also established a student program that provides funding for research, and is open to the professional and amateur historian.

In 2002, Mrs. Ricca organized a conference to mark the 550th birthday of King Richard III, and yearly conferences promoting history are conducted.

She is also a writer and author in her own right, and in 2005, published a biography on Francis, Viscount Lovel.

Mrs. Ricca is active in the history arena promoting communication with other organizations of the Fifteenth Century such as the Lance and Longbow Society and the Towton Battlefield Society of which she is a member to both organizations, along with the American College of Arms.
