I am in my first year of doctoral studies at the University of South Florida. I received my M.A. from UC San Diego and my B.A. from Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY. I have been an instructor in the fields of rhetoric and literature at San Diego, USF, and two community colleges. My focus is in 20th century American Literature. I am interested in trans-national writings, travel literature, and literature that crosses traditional boundaries of "America."
I have written my B.A. thesis on William Carlos Williams and his affiliations with the Beat Generation. My M.A. thesis focuses on Amiri Baraka's tone, diction, and word choices as he maneuvered through various religious and political aspirations. I plan to write my dissertation on 1950's literature and its focus on eastern religions and new ways to travel--both of which affected the literature produced.
